DESERT

We have two types of accommodation available for the overnight desert trips – permanent camps and mobile camps.

The permanent camps (we call these ‘bivouacs’ here in Morocco) consist of big tents equipped with everything you need for your night in the desert, a bit like glamping. There are facilities at the camps such as bathroom tents, a kitchen tent, a communal tent for guests to spend time together, and a central outdoors seating area for campfires, music and stargazing.

Lots of people even choose to take their mattresses out of the tents and sleep in the central area to take advantage of the fresh air and the chance to sleep under the stars in the middle of the desert. The remote location of these camps lends itself to stargazing and if you’re lucky, you might even see a shooting star!

The mobile camps are camps that we set up during our longer trekking trips, carrying the equipment in a 4×4 or on a camel, depending on the trip. We set up the small tents together once we reach our sleeping location for the night, and they’re the type of tents you might be used to if you’ve been camping in your country.

This type of camping is of course more rustic and adventurous than the permanent camps, as there are no permanent facilities at these locations. At the mobile camps, we cook together outside using equipment we carry with us, and we pack up the tents together the next morning before continuing on to our next location.
